Mintz announced today that Mike Fantozzi will become the firm’s next Managing Member, effective June 2027, succeeding Bob Bodian following an extraordinary 18-year tenure that has transformed the firm’s scale, profitability, and market presence. Bob, the longest-serving Managing Member in Mintz’s history, will transition to the role of Chair, remaining actively involved in the firm and its continued success. Bob announced in 2024, at the beginning of his present three-year term, that this would be his final term as Managing Member.

The leadership transition comes at a time of significant strength and momentum for Mintz. Under Bob’s leadership, the firm has delivered 11 consecutive years of growth, expanded its presence in key markets and industries, and made substantial investments in its talent, capabilities, and culture. His tenure has been defined by a commitment to building a stronger, more collaborative institution while preserving the entrepreneurial spirit and client-focused approach that distinguishes Mintz.

Mike brings to the role a combination of broad experience in firmwide leadership, commercial perspective, and longstanding relationships across the firm. He currently serves as Managing Member of Mintz’s Boston office, Division Head for the Corporate, Tax, Private Client, and Immigration Sections, and a member of the Policy and Compensation Committees. Through these roles, he has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s strategic direction, strengthening its leadership, and advancing its long-term priorities.

Mike’s leadership experience is complemented by a sophisticated corporate and transactional practice advising clients and boards of directors across life sciences, health care, technology, semiconductors, financial services, and other innovation-driven industries. His work with companies navigating complex transactions, capital formation, governance, and strategic business decisions has given him a perspective grounded in the evolving needs of clients and the opportunities shaping their businesses.

“Bob has built an extraordinary foundation for Mintz, and I am deeply grateful for his leadership and friendship, and for the confidence my fellow firm members have placed in me,” said Mike. “What makes this firm special is not simply the breadth and talent of our lawyers, but the way our people work together, the relationships we build with clients, and the ambition we bring to helping them succeed. Those qualities will continue to define us. We have tremendous opportunities ahead to deepen our capabilities, strengthen our client relationships, and expand what Mintz can accomplish. I’m excited to work alongside our attorneys and business professionals to build on our momentum and lead the firm into its next chapter.”

A Legacy of Growth and Institutional Strength

During Bob’s tenure as Managing Member, Mintz grew into a substantially larger, more profitable, innovative, diversified firm, strengthening its competitive position and creating new opportunities for the firm and its clients.

Gross revenue increased from $280 million in fiscal year 2009 to $780 million in fiscal year 2026, representing approximately 179% growth. Profits per equity partner rose from $835,000 to $2.75 million over the same period, an increase of approximately 229%.

Beyond its financial performance, Mintz expanded its geographic reach, strengthened its position in core industries, and invested in the capabilities needed to serve clients facing increasingly complex business and legal challenges.

The opening of the firm’s Toronto office established a US-Canada platform that expanded its ability to serve clients with cross-border needs, particularly in private equity and life sciences. Strategic investments in high-end litigation, life sciences, private equity, technology, and other key practices further strengthened the firm’s ability to support clients across industries and stages of growth.

Bob also championed changes that reinforced Mintz’s collaborative culture, including an innovative approach to origination credit designed to encourage lawyers to work across practices and offices in service of their clients.

Together, these investments have positioned Mintz to attract and retain exceptional talent, deepen its client relationships, and pursue new opportunities from a position of strength.

“I have tremendous confidence in Mike and in the future of Mintz,” said Bob. “He understands this firm deeply, has helped shape its success, and brings the judgment, perspective, selflessness, and commitment to our people and clients that this role demands. He knows what makes Mintz special and recognizes the opportunities ahead and what it will take to pursue them. I cannot think of a better person to lead the firm forward.”

As Chair, Bob will continue his active litigation practice and contribute his experience, relationships, and institutional knowledge to the firm’s success. Bob will focus on strengthening client relationships, attracting top lateral talent, advancing strategic growth opportunities, and providing institutional counsel. He will work closely with Mike to support a smooth leadership transition and be available to Mike as a resource once he becomes Managing Member.

“Serving as Managing Member has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” said Bob. “I am enormously proud of what my colleagues have accomplished and deeply grateful for the trust they have placed in me over these 18 years. The strength of Mintz always has been its people, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the firm’s success in this new role.”
