Car Donation Foundation d/b/a Vehicles For Veterans marks the milestone supporting Operation Gratitude and other American veterans charities
ST LOUIS PARK, MN, UNITED STATES, August 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Car Donation Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit parent of Vehicles For Veterans, has surpassed $200 million in lifetime vehicle donations — one of the largest milestones reached by any vehicle donation program in the country. Vehicles For Veterans, one of CDF’s three donation programs, has directed proceeds from donated cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles to a national network of veteran-focused charities, among them Operation Gratitude.
Vehicles For Veterans has contributed over $3.2 million to Operation Gratitude to date, offering donors a convenient way to support the organization’s mission by donating a vehicle rather than writing a check, with Vehicles For Veterans handling the pickup and sale.
“Sometimes support looks like a check, and sometimes it looks like a box with a handwritten letter inside,” said Loren Dorshow, Executive Director of Car Donation Foundation. “Operation Gratitude has built an entire mission around making sure deployed troops and veterans know someone back home is thinking about them. That’s worth supporting.”
Operation Gratitude was founded in 2003 by Carolyn Blashek, who began assembling care packages in her living room after meeting a soldier at the Los Angeles airport who felt forgotten by the country he served. What started with 650 hand-packed boxes has grown into one of the largest hands-on volunteer nonprofits in the country: tens of thousands of volunteers have since assembled and shipped more than four million care packages to deployed troops, veterans, new recruits, wounded heroes, military families and first responders, each one filled with donated goods, handmade items and personal letters of support. The organization is headquartered in Chatsworth, California.
Vehicles For Veterans also supports other nationally recognized veterans charities, including Fisher House Foundation, Homes For Our Troops, Team Red, White & Blue, Warrior Bonfire Program, the USO, FourBlock, the Minnesota Military Family Foundation, Operation Homefront, Student Veterans of America, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Soldiers To Sidelines, Semper Fi & America’s Fund, the Pat Tillman Foundation, the Military Spouse Advocacy Network, America’s Warrior Partnership, the Oscar Mike Foundation, Folds of Honor, Veterans Airlift Command and others. Vehicles For Veterans is proud to stand alongside Operation Gratitude and looks forward to continuing that support well beyond this milestone, helping fund the simple but powerful act of saying thank you.
