Precise, granular intraday hedging is now offered for all tradable U.S. grids
CHICAGO, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — ElectronX, the energy exchange built for precision risk management in electricity markets, today announced the launch of hourly contracts for the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), New York ISO (NYISO), and ISO New England (ISO-NE) grid systems, expanding its U.S. portfolio to include all deregulated, wholesale power markets.
Collectively serving 54 million people, SPP spans 17 states across the Midwest plains; NYISO serves the state of New York; and ISO-NE coordinates power for Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
With today’s launch, ElectronX offers intraday power hedging opportunities for nearly 70 percent of all U.S. electricity load, representing 2.94 million GWh annually.
“Expanding our market to include the entire U.S. ISO landscape is an important milestone for the exchange,” said Sam Tegel, CEO of ElectronX. “We’ve met our operational goal to offer granular, precise intraday trading to the U.S. power derivatives market, and we’re excited by the growing liquidity and volumes across our grid products. Now, we look forward to building participation, refining the trader experience, and innovating additional hedging opportunities nationwide.”
Available SPP instruments include two hubs (North and South) and one interface (MISO), while ISO-NE instruments include one hub (Internal). Available NYISO instruments include three zones (A-West, G-Hudson Valley, and J-New York City), and one interface (PJM).
ElectronX has now listed seven ISO product suites in the calendar year following its approval as a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in late August 2025. The exchange launched Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) contracts in February, PJM Interconnection (PJM) contracts in April, and Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and California ISO (CAISO) contracts in June. All grid suites include bounded futures and binary options products.
To complement its direct-access model, ElectronX received an amended order from the CFTC on August 10 allowing for intermediated market access via Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs). The exchange plans to introduce intermediated trading later this year.
