MELBOURNE, Australia, Sept. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Health Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Health-ISAC) announces the hiring of Simon Cowley as the new Asia Pacific (APAC) Health Sector Security & Partnerships Manager, effective September 1.

In this key role, Simon will serve as a primary leader supporting Health-ISAC’s growth, operational resilience, and member community across the region. Based in the Melbourne area, he will report directly to Paul Chua, APAC Operations Director and will act as Health-ISAC’s primary representative across Australia and New Zealand while supporting broader operations across Western Pacific nations. Simon will leverage his biotech experiences and drive long-term strategies that improve medical device security, privacy, and patient safety across Medical Device Manufacturers (MDMs) and Health Delivery Organizations (HDOs). His focus additionally includes delivering regional insights on the strategic threat environment, cultivating relationships with senior health leaders, government agencies, CERTs, and law enforcement.

Simon joins Health-ISAC from the Department of Health in Victoria, Australia, where he supported strategy, cybersecurity assurance, threat intelligence, and incident response. In 2021, he implemented a medical device security assurance program across Victoria’s public health sector to mitigate critical cyber risks. Previously, he spent over 15 years as a biomedical engineer specializing in healthcare technology management.

“Health-ISAC recognizes the importance of Australia and APAC to global health and has made a commitment to the region by bringing Simon onboard,” said Denise Anderson, President and CEO of Health-ISAC. “Simon has been a tremendous supporter of Health-ISAC over the years as a member. Now he will share his expertise and experience with the community at an even deeper level.”

Errol Weiss, Chief Security Officer at Health-ISAC, added: “Securing the global health ecosystem requires strong local presence and specialized operational expertise. Simon’s leadership in medical device security assurance makes him an outstanding addition. His regional insight will be pivotal in driving resilience and expanding member support.”

“I am thrilled to join Health-ISAC at such a critical time, especially for Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region, to improve the health sector’s resilience in the face of cybersecurity attacks,” said Simon Cowley. “Having dedicated my career to medical device security and health technology, I know firsthand how vital collaboration and intelligence sharing are to protect patient safety. I look forward to partnering with our members and sector leaders across APAC to build a more resilient community.”

Health-ISAC invites the health community to engage with Simon and the APAC operations team at the annual Health-ISAC APAC Summit in Gold Coast, Australia March 15 – 19th, 2027. To register, please visit: https://health-isac.org/summit-meeting/2027-apac/.
