Fine Art Wildlife Photographer Johan Siggesson Opens Applications for 2026 Wildlife Photography Grant

The annual $500 grant supports emerging photographers, students, and visual storytellers dedicated to wildlife and conservation

ZURRIEQ, MALTA, August 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Award-winning wildlife photographer Johan Siggesson has opened applications for the 2026 edition of his annual Wildlife Photography Grant, a $500 award created to support emerging photographers who are passionate about wildlife, nature, and conservation storytelling.

Siggesson, a Swedish-born, Malta-based photographer known for his black and white fine art wildlife prints, established the grant to recognize photographers who use their work to build connection, respect, and awareness around the natural world.

“Wildlife photography can be both artistic and important,” said Siggesson. “It can inspire wonder, deepen understanding, and remind us of what is worth protecting. My hope is that this grant helps support one photographer each year who is committed to seeing the natural world with care and sharing it with others through their work.”

The grant is open to students currently enrolled in a college, university, or photography program, as well as emerging photographers and anyone with a strong interest in wildlife, conservation, and visual storytelling. Applicants from all countries are welcome.

To apply, entrants must submit ten wildlife photographs, a written statement of 300 to 500 words, a short biography, and their contact details. Applicants retain full copyright to their work throughout the process.
Submissions will be judged on:

Strength of visual storytelling
Originality and personal perspective
Connection to wildlife or conservation
Emotional impact of the submitted work
Quality and clarity of the written statement

Siggesson has noted that technical perfection is not the deciding factor. What matters most is authenticity, intent, and the ability to create meaningful work.

The winner will receive $500 USD, a feature on Siggesson’s website, and public recognition for their work.
Siggesson’s own photography has earned honors including Travel Photographer of the Year and European Wildlife Photographer of the Year. His limited edition black and white prints are held in private collections worldwide and have been shown in gallery settings.

Applications for the 2026 Johan Siggesson Wildlife Photography Grant are open now through the December 1, 2026 deadline (11:59 PM CET).
