McDermott Will & Schulte adds cross-border capital markets partner Sina Hekmat in New York

NEW YORK, Sept. 3, 2026
Addition deepens the firm’s private capital platform and continues its New York expansion.
NEW YORK, Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — McDermott Will & Schulte announced that Sina Hekmat has joined the Firm as a partner in its Capital Markets group in New York. Sina arrives from Hogan Lovells and adds a practice built on the seam between the US and European markets, an increasingly sought-after capability as issuers and underwriters pursue capital across borders.
His arrival continues the firm’s build-out in New York and across private capital, adding senior capital markets depth in the city. His work spans private equity, debt and equity capital markets, structured finance, and M&A – a natural complement to the firm’s finance platform.
Sina joins at a period of rapid growth for the firm in New York, where it has expanded its footprint substantially over the past decade and moved into the ranks of the city’s largest firms following the 2025 combination with Schulte Roth & Zabel. His practice gives the firm’s capital markets clients direct access to cross-border expertise in private equity, M&A, financing, tax, and regulatory deals.
“Our clients are raising capital across borders, and they want one team that moves with them,” said Ira Coleman, Chair of McDermott Will & Schulte. “Sina knows how deals get done across both US and Europe, and he’s a great fit for how we work: collaborative, ambitious, and all-in for our clients.”
“Sina strengthens our ability to serve clients fluently on both sides of the Atlantic – combining deep knowledge of the German and broader European markets with sophisticated US securities law experience to guide complex cross-border transactions,” said Harris Siskind, Global Head of the Transactions Practice Group. “That reach, paired with the depth of our platform, is exactly what issuers and underwriters are looking for right now.”
“McDermott’s trajectory in private capital is hard to ignore, and the chance to plug a genuinely multijurisdictional practice into it was compelling,” Sina said. “Clients are looking beyond any single market, and I’m looking forward to pairing my European and US work with the firm’s strength across capital markets, structured finance, and M&A.”
With more than 30 years of experience, Sina advises issuers, underwriters, and investors on sovereign, investment-grade, and high-yield debt offerings, equity offerings, asset-backed securities, and private placements, with particular depth in Germany.
Sina is ranked in Chambers Global for Capital Markets and recommended by The Legal 500 US for his debt, equity, and global offerings work.
