Prime Capital Financial today announced the launch of its Endowments and Foundations practice, naming Mark Hays as its president. The new practice provides family foundations, museums, educational institutions, health-focused foundations and nonprofit endowments a dedicated resource offering tailored investment management, impact strategy and governance support.
Hays brings nearly two decades of experience across institutional and mission-aligned investing, including roles at Cambridge Associates and J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Most recently, he served for nearly seven years as Managing Director and Director of Sustainable Investing at Glenmede, where he built, grew and led the firm’s mission-aligned investing platform and advised endowments, foundations, families and institutions on investment and impact strategies.
“Endowments and foundations deserve a true partner who can match institutional-caliber expertise with real personal attention, and we’ve already been building that capability across our platform,” said Glenn Spencer, chief executive officer of Prime Capital Financial. “Mark gives us the leadership to bring it all together, scale it, and deliver it to organizations at a level few firms in this space can match.”
The practice is built around three pillars: institutional investment management and OCIO services, spanning asset allocation, manager selection, risk analysis and ongoing reporting; impact strategy and mission alignment, helping organizations translate their values into investment portfolios and grantmaking while maintaining investment discipline and fiduciary responsibility; and foundation governance and philanthropic advisory, helping organizations establish or strengthen boards and investment committees, improve governance, and bring greater structure to philanthropic strategy and operations.
The launch comes as small and mid-sized endowments and foundations, particularly those with $5 million to $250 million in assets, face increasingly complex markets, governance expectations and reporting demands. Many are seeking outside expertise and more direct access to senior professionals and customized solutions. Prime Capital Financial’s new practice is designed to meet that need.
“My North Star has always been how capital can be used to create lasting impact,” said Hays. “I was drawn to Prime Capital Financial by the quality of its people, its entrepreneurial culture and the opportunity to build something distinctive for mission-driven organizations. I look forward to helping endowments and foundations align capital, mission and governance to advance their long-term goals.”
Hays will begin by drawing on Prime Capital Financial’s existing institutional investment experience and centralized resources across the platform, with plans to add dedicated staff to the practice this fall and continue building the team into 2027, reflecting Prime Capital Financial’s long-term commitment to building a differentiated national practice.
